Meet Jerry, a 16-month-old German Shepherd who’s a perfect blend of bravery, playfulness, and affection! This 55-pound, sable-coated male is Underdog Animal Rescue’s longest resident, waiting patiently for a forever family in his San Ramon, CA foster home. Jerry is a smart, friendly, and athletic pup who loves people, kids, and other dogs, making him a great fit for an active household. With his love for car rides, hikes, and playtime, plus his ability to settle down for cozy moments, Jerry is ready to be your ultimate adventure buddy and loyal best friend.

Health and Care
Jerry is neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations (including DHPP and rabies), microchipped, and has received flea treatment and deworming, per Underdog Animal Rescue’s policy. He’s had a health check in January 2025 and is managing a recent inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) diagnosis with a clean, rigid prescription diet, which his foster family finds easy to maintain. Jerry is house-trained, progressing in crate training, and has fully recovered from two prior surgeries.

Jerry, a 16-month-old German Shepherd, has overcome significant challenges to become the heroic, loving pup he is today. As Underdog Animal Rescue’s longest resident in San Ramon, CA, Jerry arrived in early 2025 after a tough start that included two surgeries. Now thriving in a foster home with other dogs and children, he’s blossomed into an affectionate, playful, and smart companion. Jerry spends his days enjoying car rides, excelling on leash walks, and charming everyone with his silly, friendly personality. His sensitivity and loyalty make him a strong candidate for an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) with the right support.
Jerry’s IBD is well-managed with a prescription diet, and he’s house-trained, respectful, and eager to please. He gets along great with kids and other dogs but prefers a cat-free home. His ideal family will be experienced with working breeds, providing structure, consistency, and plenty of activities like hikes or trips to the dog park. With four free training sessions included, Jerry is ready to shine as your adventure buddy, jogging partner, or cozy movie-night companion.
