Olivia: A Snuggly Senior Who Wants to be Your Loyal Shadow

Location: Waggaman, Louisiana at Rolling River Rescue

Breed: Black Mouth Cur/Mixed Breed Mix
Age: Senior, 8+ years
Gender: Female

Olivia—affectionately called “Livvy Loo”—is a sweet, silly senior who has mastered the art of making people feel loved.

She follows her favorite humans around the house with her tail wagging, rests her head on their shoulders, and places her face in an open hand whenever she needs affection. Olivia does not merely want to live in someone’s home; she wants to be a cherished part of their everyday life.

A Professional Snuggler

Olivia’s greatest talent is affection. She enjoys lap time, gentle “hand hugs,” slow blinks, and staying close to the people she trusts.

Her profile describes her as sweet, sassy, and wonderfully expressive. She has plenty of personality but also knows how to settle beside her person and enjoy quiet companionship.

Olivia is house-trained and does well on walks. As a senior, she may be an excellent match for someone seeking a devoted companion without the nonstop energy of a young puppy.

Life with Livvy Loo could include:

  • Relaxed neighborhood walks

  • Couch cuddles and quiet evenings

  • Following her person from room to room

  • Plenty of affection and companionship

  • A predictable, comfortable household routine

Her Ideal Home

Olivia would be happiest in a home where she can receive plenty of individual attention. She can become “snarky” with other dogs, so Rolling River Rescue believes she would do best as the only dog.

She may tolerate a calm, submissive canine companion following careful introductions, but she is unlikely to appreciate living with an assertive or highly energetic dog. Potential adopters should discuss any resident dog with the rescue before applying.

Olivia is listed as good with children. She is also good with cats, generally ignoring them or offering a polite sniff. Introductions should still be gradual and supervised.

Her ideal family will provide:

  • A home where she can preferably be the only dog

  • Plenty of cuddles and human companionship

  • Regular, comfortable walks

  • A calm and consistent routine

  • Continued positive guidance

  • Routine veterinary and preventive care

  • A permanent commitment throughout her senior years

Healthy and Ready for a Home

Olivia is spayed, vaccinated, and house-trained. Rolling River Rescue’s adoption program also provides age-appropriate veterinary care, microchipping, deworming, and parasite prevention.

Applicants should ask for Olivia’s complete medical records and confirm whether she has any age-related needs, medications, dietary requirements, or activity restrictions.

Senior dogs benefit from regular wellness examinations, dental care, healthy weight management, and monitoring for changes in mobility, appetite, vision, hearing, or comfort.

About Rolling River Rescue

Rolling River Rescue is a foster-based nonprofit serving the Greater New Orleans area. Its animals live in foster homes while receiving veterinary care and waiting for permanent families.

Because Olivia is fostered rather than housed in a public shelter, an approved application may be required before meeting her.

Rolling River Rescue’s standard adult-dog adoption fee is $200, although applicants should confirm Olivia’s individual fee. The process generally includes an application, review, home visit, and meeting with the dog.

The rescue also regularly attends Saturday adoption events at PetSmart, 1000 South Clearview Parkway in Elmwood, Louisiana. Contact the rescue before visiting to confirm whether Olivia will attend.

Give Livvy Loo Her Happy Ending

Olivia is ready to devote herself completely to someone who appreciates a loyal, affectionate senior.

She may prefer not to share her home with another dog, but she offers more than enough love on her own. With her wagging tail, gentle head rests, and determination to remain beside her favorite person, Livvy Loo could make an ordinary home feel wonderfully full.
