About Bella

Meet Bella, a 3-4-year-old Thai Ridgeback and Shepherd Mix with a striking brown/chocolate, red/chestnut/orange bicolor coat and a heart full of resilience. Rescued from a feral life after giving birth at an abandoned house, Bella has made incredible progress in socialization and is now a friendly, house-trained companion who gets along with people and other dogs. Her visible Ridgeback stripe and shepherd-like features hint at her unique mix, possibly with Thai Ridgeback, Shepherd, or other breeds like Cattle Dog or Pit. After nurturing her puppies, two of whom still await homes, Bella is ready to find a loving family to call her own.

Characteristics

  • Friendly & Resilient: Bella has overcome a tough past and now warms up to people with a gentle spirit.

  • Social with Dogs: She gets along well with other dogs, though she may bark at those across a fence.

  • House-Trained: Bella has excellent house manners and reliably signals when she needs to go outside.

  • Cautious but Non-Aggressive: Her nervous nature is fading, and she’s never shown aggression.

Health and Care

Bella is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and current on heartworm, flea/tick preventatives, and deworming treatments. She’s had a comprehensive health check as of August 2025 and is in good health after recovering from emaciation with a nutritious diet. Her adoption includes a microchip with registration. Bella is fully house-trained, with no reported behavioral issues in the home. Her $300 adoption fee helps cover her medical and care expenses, including her spay surgery and recovery from her initial malnourished state.

Bella’s Story

Bella, an estimated 3-4-year-old Thai Ridgeback and Shepherd Mix, is a true survivor with a gentle soul. Found living feral in Houston, TX, after giving birth to a litter of five puppies around New Year’s 2025, she was rescued by Mending Souls along with her pups. Initially emaciated and wary from her life on the streets, Bella has made remarkable strides with dedicated care, gaining weight and blossoming into a friendly, social dog. Her distinctive Ridgeback stripe and shepherd-like features suggest a unique mix, possibly with Thai Ridgeback, Shepherd, Cattle Dog, or Pit influences, though her puppies don’t resemble shepherds.

Bella gets along well with people and other dogs in her foster environment, though she may bark nervously at dogs across a fence. She hasn’t been tested with cats, small dogs, or young children, but her non-aggressive nature suggests she could adapt with careful introductions. Fully house-trained and thriving in a nurturing setting, Bella is ready for a forever home where she can continue to grow in confidence and share her loyal, loving nature. With two of her puppies and herself still awaiting adoption, Bella is eager to find a family to make her feel safe and cherished.

Ideal Home

Bella would thrive in a calm, supportive home with patient owners who can continue her socialization journey. A securely fenced yard is ideal for her to relax and enjoy light playtime, especially since she may feel nervous around dogs on the other side of a fence. She’s great with adults and gets along with other dogs, making her suitable for a multi-dog home with proper introductions, but she hasn’t been tested with cats, small dogs, or young children, so a home without these is preferred. Owners who can provide a stable, loving environment and appreciate her cautious yet affectionate nature will find Bella to be a loyal, heartwarming companion. A suburban or rural setting with a peaceful atmosphere will help this sweet girl shine.
