Max’s Story
Max, born around Christmas Day 2024, is a resilient 8-month-old Rhodesian Ridgeback and Hound Mix with a heart full of joy. Found abandoned with his litter at just 10 days old, he was raised in a loving foster home by Mending Souls in Houston, TX. His mama, a chocolate-colored shepherd mix with a partial blue eye and a reverse Rhodesian Ridgeback stripe, suggests possible Aussie, Heeler, or Husky genes, while Max’s size and features point to a bully or hound mix from his unknown dad, likely a 60-70 lb dog like a Pit Bull, Rottweiler, or Hound. Max is expected to reach about 50 lbs, slightly larger than his mama.
Max’s playful, social nature makes him a favorite in his foster home, where he thrives with other dogs and loves interacting with people. While he hasn’t been exposed to cats or small children, his non-aggressive demeanor suggests he’d adapt with proper introductions. After nearly eight months in rescue, Max is ready for a permanent home where he can continue to grow, play, and love. With his near-complete potty training and eager-to-please attitude, he’s poised to become a loyal, fun-loving companion with just a bit of consistency.
Ideal Home
Max would thrive in a loving, active home with owners who can keep up with his playful puppy energy. A securely fenced yard is ideal for safe playtime and exploration. He’s great with adults, children, and other dogs, and likely to adapt to cats with slow introductions, making him suitable for a variety of households. Owners who can provide consistent training to polish his potty skills and offer daily playtime, walks, and affection will find Max to be a joyful, loyal companion. A suburban or urban setting with space for him to romp and relax will make this sweet pup’s life full of happiness.
