About Charm
Meet Charm, a beautiful seven-year-old Lab mix whose foster lovingly calls her Lyla.
She may be one of the sweetest souls Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue has ever had the honor of helping. Although her life before entering the shelter is unknown, Charm arrived as a stray carrying physical signs of an extremely difficult past.
Her teeth were severely worn down, which may indicate that she chewed on her crate or other hard objects while trying to find food. She was also extremely thin and desperately needed consistent nourishment.
Now safe in foster care, Charm is receiving regular meals, puppy food, and plenty of treats. She has started gaining the much-needed weight that will help her become stronger and healthier.
Despite everything she may have endured, Charm has not lost her ability to trust or love.
A Wonderful Health Update
Charm’s rescuers were overjoyed when their veterinarians determined that she was healthy and tested negative for heartworms.
After surviving so much uncertainty, this gentle girl can now concentrate on gaining weight, enjoying life, and finding the permanent family she deserves.
Freedom Bridge states that dogs in its care receive veterinary care and are spayed or neutered before placement. Prospective adopters should ask the rescue for Charm’s latest medical records and current weight. Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue

Discovering the Joy of Toys
When Charm first entered foster care, she did not seem to understand what toys were or what she was supposed to do with them.
With time and encouragement, she began discovering that toys could be a source of happiness. Now that she understands the concept, she enjoys playing and experiencing a part of life she may never have known before.
Watching Charm learn how to have fun is another reminder that older rescue dogs can continue experiencing joyful firsts when someone gives them patience and safety.
Life with Other Dogs
Charm loves playing with other pups and may enjoy living with a compatible canine companion.
As with any adoption, introductions to resident dogs should be performed gradually and under the rescue’s guidance. Her profile does not provide specific information about living with cats or children, so interested families should discuss their complete household with Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue.
Ideal Home
Charm needs a loving family that will provide the security and consistent care she may have gone without for far too long.
Her ideal home will:
Continue helping her reach and maintain a healthy weight
Provide dependable meals and appropriate veterinary care
Give her plenty of affection and gentle attention
Offer safe toys and opportunities to continue learning how to play
Include her in everyday family life
Introduce her carefully to any resident animals
Appreciate the calm companionship of an adult dog
Promise that she will never again have to wonder whether she is safe or loved
When Charm looks into someone’s eyes, her foster sees a shining soul filled with gratitude and forgiveness.
Her past may remain a mystery, but her future does not have to be. Charm is ready for a family that will cherish her sweetness, protect her gentle heart, and give her the comfortable life she has always deserved.
