About Forrest

Meet Forrest, a 2-year-old Plott Hound with a heart as big as her energy! This 62-pound female is a sweet, spirited girl who loves to run, play, and soak up affection. Found as a stray wandering near farms, Forrest has been at Friends of the Animals Shelter since January 6, 2025, waiting for a family that can match her lively personality. She’s great with kids and brings a joyful, enthusiastic vibe to everything she does, but her high energy and dog-selective nature mean she needs a special home where she can thrive as the only pet.

Characteristics

  • Energetic & Playful: Forrest loves to run and needs plenty of space to burn off her boundless energy.

  • Sweet & Affectionate: Despite her high energy, she’s a loving girl who enjoys attention from her people.

  • Great with Kids: Forrest is friendly and gentle with children, making her a great family companion.

  • Dog Selective: She prefers to be the only pet in the home and doesn’t get along with all dogs.

Health and Care

Forrest is spayed, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped, per the shelter’s adoption policy. She’s had a health check, heartworm test (including tick disease screening), and fecal analysis as of January 2025. Forrest is in excellent health, with no reported issues, but she is not yet housetrained and will need patient owners to help her learn. The shelter ensures all animals are ready for adoption with necessary medical care, and any additional veterinary needs are covered by a voucher provided with adoption.

Forrest’s Story

Forrest, a 2-year-old Plott Hound, was found wandering near farms in early January 2025 and brought to Friends of the Animals Shelter as a stray. Despite efforts, her previous owner couldn’t be located, and now this sweet girl is ready to start a new chapter. Forrest is full of life, spending her days bounding around the shelter’s play area, charming staff with her enthusiasm, and seeking out affection from everyone she meets. Her high energy and love for running make her a perfect match for an active household with plenty of space to explore.

Forrest is fantastic with kids, but her dog-selective nature means she’d do best as the only pet in the home. She hasn’t been housetrained yet, so her new family will need to work with her on this skill, but her intelligence and eagerness to please make her a quick learner. Forrest’s vibrant personality and loving heart make her an ideal companion for someone ready to embrace her energy and give her the active, spacious home she craves.

Ideal Home

Forrest would thrive in an active, spacious home where she can be the only pet, as she’s selective with other dogs and prefers to be the star of the show. A securely fenced yard is a must for this energetic girl to run, play, and burn off her energy. She’s great with kids, making her suitable for families with children, but her high energy requires owners who can provide ample exercise and patient training to help her become housetrained. A rural or suburban home with plenty of outdoor space and an active lifestyle—think long walks, hikes, or play sessions—would be perfect for Forrest. Owners familiar with hounds or high-energy breeds will find her a rewarding, joyful companion.
