About Music Man

Meet Music Man, the self-proclaimed “Resident Rock Star” who has spent more than a year waiting backstage at Almost There Rescue for his perfect person to discover him.

His musical tastes may be heavier than his name suggests. Music Man is a metalhead at heart who finds screaming guitar solos much more soothing than quiet melodies. His larger-than-life personality and enthusiasm for everything he does mean his energy is almost always dialed up to eleven.

Music Man is a smart, high-energy Cattle Dog and Shepherd mix who needs a very specific home to feel secure and thrive. For an experienced adopter prepared to understand his needs, continue his training, and embrace his massive personality, he could become an unforgettable companion.

Characteristics

  • Smart: Music Man enjoys learning and needs regular opportunities to engage his active mind.

  • High-Energy: He requires plenty of exercise, enrichment, and positive outlets for his enthusiasm.

  • Playful: Chasing bubbles, splashing in water, playing with a flirt pole, and shredding squeaky toys are some of his favorite activities.

  • House-Trained: Music Man already understands an important part of living successfully in a home.

  • Training-Oriented: He enjoys force-free training sessions and would benefit from continuing them with his adopter.

  • Full of Personality: Music Man is not a quiet background character—he is a resident rock star who brings energy, excitement, and character wherever he goes.

  • Music-Loving: His rescue says screaming guitar solos are among his favorite lullabies.

Training and Enrichment

Music Man needs a family that will make exercise, training, and enrichment part of his everyday routine. As an intelligent and energetic dog, he will be happiest when both his mind and body have meaningful activities.

His future family should continue using force-free, reward-based training methods that help him learn while building trust. Activities he may particularly enjoy include:

  • Water play

  • Chasing bubbles

  • Flirt-pole sessions

  • Squeaky toys

  • Food puzzles and enrichment toys

  • Structured walks

  • Reward-based training games

A fenced yard is an important requirement for Music Man. It would give him a secure place to exercise, play, and release some of his abundant energy.

Life with Children and Other Animals

Music Man needs an adult-only home where life remains calm, predictable, and structured. A household without children will allow his family to focus on meeting his needs and helping him feel secure.

He must also be the only pet in the home. Music Man is not compatible with dogs or cats and does not want any furry backup singers sharing his stage.

As the family’s one-and-only animal, he can receive the attention, guidance, exercise, and enrichment he needs without being placed in uncomfortable situations with other pets.

Ideal Home

Music Man is searching for dedicated, experienced dog owners who appreciate a smart, energetic dog with an enormous personality.

His ideal home will:

  • Include adults with dog-handling experience

  • Have a securely fenced yard

  • Have no children, dogs, cats, or other pets

  • Provide plenty of physical exercise and mental enrichment

  • Continue force-free, reward-based training

  • Maintain a predictable routine

  • Give him safe outlets for his energy

  • Embrace his playful, unconventional rock-star personality

Music Man has spent more than a year entertaining his fans at the rescue, but he is ready to stop waiting and begin his next chapter.

If you have the experience, commitment, and energy to help him succeed, Music Man may be ready to make you the center of his universe. It is finally time for this resident rock star to take his show on the road.
