Dogwood Animal Rescue does not operate a traditional shelter. Its animals live in volunteer foster homes while waiting for adoption, so interested families should submit an application before arranging a meeting.

After receiving an application, Dogwood’s team will review the information and contact the applicant if Nestle appears to be a good match. The rescue can then discuss the next steps and arrange an opportunity to meet her.

About Nestle

Nestle is a friendly, playful Pit Bull Terrier mix with a sweet personality and a remarkable story of resilience. At approximately 6 months old, this beautiful chocolate-colored puppy is ready to leave her difficult beginning behind and start the next chapter of her life with a loving family.

Nestle was one of five baby girls rescued from a situation involving unchecked and unwanted breeding in Clearlake, California. Limited access to affordable spay-and-neuter services had allowed the number of dogs on the property to grow.

Dogwood Animal Rescue stepped in to help more than just the puppies. The rescue arranged spay surgeries for their mother and all six intact female dogs living on the property, helping prevent future litters and supporting the animals and people involved.

Nestle and her sisters arrived in rough condition, but with proper care and time to recover, the puppies have blossomed beautifully. Nestle is now healthy, social, and ready to find the family who will guide her through puppyhood and show her how wonderful life can be.

A Friendly and Playful Puppy

Nestle is described as incredibly sweet and social. She enjoys engaging with the people around her and has the cheerful curiosity expected from a young puppy discovering the world.

Her playful personality will bring plenty of activity, entertainment, and laughter into her future home. Whether she is investigating a new toy, learning a skill, or spending time with her family, Nestle will benefit from opportunities to safely explore and build her confidence.

Because she is still young, Nestle is at an excellent age to begin forming lifelong habits. Positive experiences with different people, environments, sounds, and situations can help her grow into a confident and well-adjusted adult dog.

Her future family should remember that socialization is about creating safe and pleasant experiences rather than overwhelming a puppy with too much at once. Patience, encouragement, and plenty of rewards will help Nestle continue developing at a comfortable pace.

Training and Growing Together

Nestle is not yet house-trained, so her adopter should be prepared to continue teaching her through a consistent schedule and positive reinforcement. Frequent outdoor breaks, close supervision, and praise when she makes the right choice will help her understand what is expected.

As a growing puppy, she will also need guidance with other common puppy behaviors, including appropriate chewing, leash walking, polite greetings, and settling calmly inside the home.

Puppy training requires time and consistency, but it also gives Nestle’s adopter an incredible opportunity to build a strong relationship with her. Short, upbeat training sessions can provide mental enrichment while helping her learn important skills.

Nestle would benefit from learning foundational cues such as:

  • Sit

  • Down

  • Come when called

  • Leave it

  • Drop it

  • Wait

  • Walking politely on a leash

  • Relaxing in a crate or designated space

Safe chew toys, food puzzles, age-appropriate exercise, and supervised play will help keep both her body and mind engaged as she grows.

Other Pets and Children

Nestle’s current compatibility with dogs, cats, children, and other animals is listed as unknown. This does not necessarily mean she cannot live with them—it means there is not enough confirmed information to make that determination.

Families with children or other pets should discuss their household with Dogwood Animal Rescue before adopting. Thoughtful introductions, appropriate supervision, and respect for every animal’s comfort level will be important.

Because Nestle is still a puppy, her behavior and play style will continue to develop. Her future family will play an important role in teaching her how to interact appropriately and calmly with both people and animals.

Nestle’s Ideal Home

Nestle would thrive with a family that understands the time, patience, and commitment involved in raising a puppy. She needs people who are prepared to provide structure while still giving her plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and enjoy being young.

Her ideal family will provide:

  • Consistent, reward-based training

  • Continued support with house-training

  • Daily play and age-appropriate exercise

  • Safe toys and healthy outlets for chewing

  • Mental stimulation and enrichment

  • Positive socialization experiences

  • Patient guidance throughout puppyhood and adolescence

  • Regular veterinary care

  • Plenty of affection and time with her family

  • A lifelong commitment as she grows into an adult dog

Nestle is expected to weigh approximately 40–50 pounds when fully grown. Her future family should be prepared for her adult size as well as the changing exercise, training, and care needs she will have throughout every stage of her life.

This beautiful puppy has already overcome a challenging beginning. Thanks to Dogwood Animal Rescue, she has recovered and now has the chance to experience the security and love every dog deserves.

If you are ready to embrace the joys and responsibilities of raising a puppy, Nestle could become a wonderful companion who fills your home with playfulness, affection, and years of happy memories.
