About Panda

Meet Panda, a 3-4-year-old English Bulldog Mix with a heart as big as her charming black and white/cream coat! This medium-sized sweetheart was rescued after being abandoned outside her home, alongside her believed son, when their owners moved away. Now, with her son adopted, Panda is ready for her turn to find a loving forever home. Despite her tough start, Panda’s friendly and sweet temperament shines through, making her a delightful companion who’s eager to share her love with a mature, caring family.

Characteristics

  • Friendly & Sweet: Panda is a people-lover who greets everyone with warmth and affection.

  • Resilient: After overcoming health challenges, she’s thriving and ready for a fresh start.

  • Calm & Well-Mannered: She’s potty-trained, does well in a kennel, and has great house manners.

  • Selective Socializer: Panda gets along with some female dogs but prefers to avoid males and untested small pets.

Health and Care

Panda is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and has received an annual exam as of July 2025. She tested positive for heartworms upon rescue but has completed treatment, with a follow-up test recommended around November 2025 to confirm its success. Her initial bloating and skin issues, likely due to a chicken allergy, have been resolved with a nutritious pork, beef, and salmon diet and regular bathing. Panda is fully potty-trained, comfortable in a kennel, and in good health with no other major issues reported. Her $400 adoption fee helps cover her medical and care expenses, including her heartworm treatment and spay surgery.

Panda’s Story

Panda, a 3-4-year-old English Bulldog Mix, is a true survivor with a gentle, loving soul. Rescued by Mending Souls in Houston, TX, after being abandoned with her believed son when their owners moved away, Panda has come a long way thanks to her dedicated foster mom. Initially found with bloating and slight skin aggravations, she’s now thriving on a tailored diet and regular care, showing off her beautiful black and white/cream coat. Her heartworm treatment has set her on the path to full health, with a follow-up test planned to ensure she’s in the clear.

Panda is friendly with people and has made friends with some medium-sized female dogs, though she’s defensive around male dogs, likely due to past overbreeding. She hasn’t been tested with cats, small pets, or young children, but her non-aggressive nature suggests she’d do well in a calm, mature household. Potty-trained and comfortable in a kennel, Panda is ready to bring her sweet, easygoing personality to a forever home where she can be cherished for all her days.

Ideal Home

Panda would thrive in a calm, mature household where she can be the center of attention or share space with compatible female dogs. A securely fenced yard is ideal for her to relax and enjoy light playtime, though she’s content with a cozy indoor life as well. She’s great with adults but hasn’t been tested with young children, so a home with older kids or no kids is preferred. Due to her preference to avoid male dogs and unknown compatibility with cats or small pets, a pet-free home or one with careful introductions is best. Owners who can maintain her special diet (no chicken) and provide a stable, loving environment will find Panda to be a loyal, heartwarming companion. A suburban or urban setting with a peaceful atmosphere will make her life truly special.
