Paws Across Pittsburgh does not adopt animals outside Pennsylvania. Because the rescue conducts home visits, applicants should live within a reasonable driving distance of Pittsburgh—preferably in Western Pennsylvania.
The rescue is foster-based and does not have a central facility where applicants can visit its animals. Meet-and-greets are arranged after an application has been reviewed and approved.
The current adult-dog adoption fee is $300. It includes age-appropriate vaccinations, a 4DX test for dogs older than six months, microchipping, and spay or neuter surgery. Meet Samson, a playful, loving, and loyal young Boxer mix whose difficult beginning has not taken away his joyful outlook on life.
Before entering rescue, Samson was not properly cared for and was reportedly tied to a staircase. After falling down the stairs, he did not receive the veterinary care he needed. The incident left him with an injury to his right rear leg, which may appear slightly shorter than the other.
Multiple veterinarians have evaluated Samson’s leg and recommended leaving it as it is because he uses it comfortably and does not appear to experience pain. Samson gets around remarkably well—running through the yard, jumping, playing, and occasionally testing whether the kitchen counter should be included in his personal parkour course.
At approximately 11 months old and 48 pounds, Samson is filled with youthful energy and enthusiasm. He approaches life as if every day is the best day yet.
Whether he is sprinting around the yard, showing off his jumping abilities, playing with another dog, or relaxing on the couch with a chew, Samson brings his whole heart to everything he does.

Samson’s Leg Injury
Samson has an old injury affecting his right rear leg. The leg may look slightly shorter, but he continues to use it and does not appear to be in pain.
Multiple veterinarians have reportedly evaluated the injury and determined that keeping the leg is currently the best option because it remains functional.
