About Weebles
Meet Weebles, a joyful and energetic Vizsla mix whose happiness survived circumstances that could have broken his spirit.
On May 25, 2024, Weebles was discovered beside a road near an orchard. He was lying next to a laundry basket covered with a tarp, making it appear that someone may have abandoned him there.
He was extremely thin, hungry, and struggling to use his legs properly. Veterinarians determined that he had likely been struck by a car months earlier and had never received the medical attention he needed.
On June 20, 2024, Weebles underwent femoral head and neck ostectomy—commonly called FHO surgery—on his rear right leg. The procedure addressed the lasting damage caused by his accident and the months of medical neglect that followed it.
Weebles has now healed and is healthy. Although he still has a distinctive wobble, it does not stop him from running, playing, exploring, or greeting every new experience with extraordinary enthusiasm.
His name perfectly captures his approach to life: Weebles wobbles, but he does not fall down—physically or figuratively.

The touch cue is helping him learn to approach food calmly instead of leaping for it. It can also become a useful foundation for teaching focus, recall, positioning, and impulse control.
Weebles is still working on many everyday skills. His future family should be prepared to continue teaching:

Calm greetings
Leash manners
Appropriate ways to request attention
Settling after exercise
Waiting patiently for food and treats
Recall and focus around distractions
Household boundaries
Short, upbeat training sessions will likely work best for him. Positive reinforcement, treats, toys, praise, and play can help channel his enthusiasm into productive behavior.
Exercise and Enrichment
Weebles is not searching for a low-activity household. He needs an energetic owner who genuinely wants an active canine companion.
Appropriate activities could include:

Chew toys and other enrichment activities
Physical exercise alone may not be enough to satisfy him. Weebles also needs mental stimulation, training, social interaction, and activities that require him to think.
Without enough attention and enrichment, he may become bored. His family should be ready to include him in daily life while also teaching him how to relax independently.
Because of his orthopedic history, prospective adopters should ask the rescue and his veterinarian about any recommended exercise precautions or long-term care.
Life with Other Animals and Children
Weebles loves other dogs. A compatible canine companion could provide play, enrichment, and friendship, although introductions should still be gradual and supervised.
He has not yet been evaluated with cats or children. Furever After Rescue can arrange testing upon request.
Because Weebles is approximately 65 pounds, extremely energetic, and still learning how to control his excitement, families with children should discuss his play style and training needs carefully with the rescue. His enthusiasm could unintentionally overwhelm very young or unsteady children.
A compatibility test represents only one interaction, so careful introductions and ongoing supervision would remain important in any home with cats, children, or other animals.
